Sub: Adoption of New School Uniform design in Kendriya Vidyalayas from the academic session 2012-13- reg.
Sir/Madam,
1. It is a matter of great pride that the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has emerged over the years as a pace setter in the field of school education catering to the needs of about 10.7 lakh boys and girls studying in various classes from classes I-XII across the country and abroad.
2. KVS is completing 50 years of its glorious existence and on the eve of its golden jubilee, KVS would like to introduce its new uniform pattern for the KV students from the academic session 2012-13.
3. The present uniform design has been in vogue since the very inception of KVS in 1963. With the view to remain contemporary and to provide a unique identity to its students, all the same, keeping the comfort, the cost and the availability factors, the new uniform has been designed in collaboration with NIFT, New Delhi. The Board of Governors in their 92nd meeting held on 18th May 2012 has approved of the adoption of a new uniform design for the KVS.
The details of the new uniform Pattern are attached as Annexure-I.
4. It is informed that the photo album of the new uniform design and the swatch file is enclosed for your reference. Further the proto-type of uniforms is also available on the KVS website (www.kvsangathan.nic.in). You may give wide publicity to this matter and inform the parents, students and all other stakeholders orally and in writing. Ample time and guidance may be provided to the parents for getting the uniforms ready.
5. As informed vide circular No.11029/27/2011 KVS(Hq)(Acad.) dt. March 1, 2012, the old and new uniforms may continue to be used simultaneously during the transition period for II to XI. The old ones may be weaned out of use gradually over a period of 2 years i.e. by July 2014. The parents of class I students may be instructed to get the uniform stitched for their wards as per the new uniform design. Students of class XII shall continue with the existing uniform if they so desire as they will be passing out at the end of this academic year.
6. Consequent to the implementation of the new uniform policy, Article 92 (C) of Education (2006 edition) stands amended.
This circular may be widely disseminated amongst all concerned.

ReplyDeleteNo one would like to wear that. The fashion designers are merely Idiots. Uniform must be cool so that the students feel proud and confident of themselves and their school. Not like if someone sees them and says there comes an idiot. The pants for boys should be narrower enough so that we must remain comfortable but too much. The colors are so disturbing and dull, they must have chosen bright or cool colors. Especially the shirts are the most bad.

Deleteexcept senior girls rest of the design is good.i suggest retaining the salwar in grey with normal length kurta and making the dupatta optional or having a waistcoat like the winter version of it with trousers[though the waistcoat can be totally scrapped because for people who do not like kurta without dupatta the waistcoat will hardly be more acceptable and for those who don't mind it will hardly care for the waistcoat]

DeleteOnce the authorities take a decision, it is decided. Whatever we comment it is not taken as a valuable comment. But still we believe that the simplicity and the neatness in the uniform is only on the PLAIN NAVY BLUE AND WHITE. If at all they want to change the pattern, let them change the pattern of teaching and value education and not waste time in forming a committee to design the uniform at their whims and fancy.

Have been a KV student and i feel this new uniform is such a waste of time and money of tax paying parents of India. Smell another scam in manufacturing now!!! The uniforms of senior girls are so atrocious that i am glad i am not a student of KV anymore.

DeleteThe new dress designed by NIFT is not as per their reputation and fame.For senior girls wearing waistcoat in summer would be uncomfortable.In would have been better if kurtis with nehru collar and leggings were given because kurtis with pant is not balanced.Common man can't stitch school uniform of their own and fell prey to readymade traders (Monopoly business).There is enough scope to modify the dress as comfortable and attractive.

ReplyDeleteThank god ill be out of school till this toy replaces the old one.... now i kne y old is gold.... the new uniform... is totally disgusting.... if it was black and white also it wud have been simply awesome but this... i hate this and feel really sorry for the upcoming students... they will really look like dam jokers......did not expected this from NIFT.... IM SHOCKED.... DISSAPOINTED...

ReplyDeleteThe parents of the KV School children prefer to have school uniform in one single colour for the std Vth and above. for Example : White /Light colour shirt of any colour with Blue/Black/Grey colour Skirt/bottoms/trousers and the option should be provided for purchasing cloth and stitching it at an affordable cost. The new uniform has made the parents to buy from the selected readymade business dealers which is very costlier. Uniform means discipline,uniformity,respect,acceptance,loyality and much more. The uniform brings in feeling of studying and learning from within oneself.
Multicolour dresses may be recommended for 1st to 4th Std.
Hope our request will be considered for which act of kindness the parent fraternity will be ever grateful to the KV Sangathan.

Always thought NIFT would do some good job making KV uniform stylish and more presentable. The style of the uniform is without any taste and most uninspiring!!! What a shame! NIFT is full of such idiots!

the high collored kurthi's are going to be terrible for girls in the hot and humid places where there is constant sweating,like tamil nadu and kerala.have these been designed keeping in mind only the weather up north?

ReplyDeleteNew uniform is the better than old uniform . The colors of the uniform are very awesome and beautiful. The new uniform system have to implement the all kv schools at the earliest. Don't wait until 2014.
ReplyDeleteThe new uniform is surely advance and matches the needs of these times, but I think there is too much of variance in the uniform, seems costly, summer-winter based dresses (was that really necessary..?), house-wise distribution (a 5rs colored pin-up batch may do the job instead).

i liked the winter uniform for everyone and sportswear but the summer uniform.....(especially class 9th to 12th... i cant bear it..

ReplyDeleteIt is unfortunate that the school which teaches about wearing cotton cloths because of the climate we are in are asking to wear high polyester (93%)cloths.Is it the principle which our rulers practice? " Dont follow what you preach". We fail to understand the design designed by famous NIFT.The breast coat for girls will add more woes as there shall be double cover and during summer it shall be horrible when temperatures touch 43 C and above.

ReplyDeleteCotton is body friendly and natural but it cant be used for uniforms like daily wear. In India we are mostly using Polyester blended fabric for uniform. i.e PC (Polyester Cotton), PV (Polyester Viscose) etc...

ReplyDeleteyeah.......d senior girls dress is not at all ok.n the color is also very indecentbe.the uniforms must be simple and comfortable yet classy.but d new design lacks all 3.but replacement of waistcoats in place of dupattas is quite good........

ReplyDelete1. Sports shoes have not been shown separately and appears to be an ommission.If it is intentional following problems arise.
ReplyDelete2. The new black velcro shoes does not seem suitable for games/sports/PT and would affect the running style of children and over a period of time, result in leg/knee problems.
3. Even if the black shoe is designed as multi-purpose/also suitable for sports, most parents/children would not be able to afford those due to high costs.
4. An early clarification is solicited.
